Nicole Richie reportedly wants to "reconnect" with her husband Joel Madden.

The couple have two children together - Harlow, four, and two-year-old Sparrow - and both lead busy careers.

Reports claim the pair have been arguing since Christmas as they haven't been able to spend much time together and with the family. Nicole is said to be busy with her fashion lines and upcoming TV show, while Joel has been busy in the recording studio, and has landed a spot on the judging panel for Australia's version of The Voice.

Sources claim Nicole is determined to get through the rough patch in their relationship.

"Nicole was thrilled Joel was offered the show. But recently they've been arguing and she feels they need to reconnect, so it's bad timing," an insider told UK magazine Closer.

"Nicole was disappointed that she had to attend the Golden Globes on her own last month, because Joel wanted to stay at home. But she loves Joel very much and is determined to get through this patch."

Nicole is also reportedly planning a vacation to Fiji for her and Joel when The Voice finishes filming.

"Nicole thinks some time alone will get things back on track," the source added.
