Nicole Richie’s ‘TV escape’
Nicole Richie will address being “spread too thin” in the next season of her hit reality show Candidly Nicole.
The 33-year-old is currently promoting the second season of her programme Candidly Nicole, a show that debuted as a web series for AOL, but is now airing on television via VH1 network.
And although Nicole is well-known for being a reality star, having shot to fame on The Simple Life with castmate Paris Hilton in 2003, she likes to get lost in a good comedy-drama series every now and again to refresh.
“I love to watch reruns of Desperate Housewives, because why not? Sometimes you just need to escape to Wisteria Lane,” she noted in an interview with Variety.
Nicole is mother to seven-year-old daughter Harlow and five-year-old son Sparrow with husband Joel Madden.
In addition to her reality programme she is also the owner of fashion Line House of Harlow 1960.
The next season of Candidly Nicole will authentically depict how she manages stress with such a busy schedule.
“We talk about feeling like you’re spread too thin, how to make the most of your day, [and] bringing ideas to life — inventing and creating things,” she said of what season two spotlights.
Nicole had no idea where Candidly Nicole would go when she first set out on the project.
The star was aiming for something entirely different with the programme initially.
“The original idea was for a talk show, and I felt like I wasn’t there yet. But I still wanted to talk about things that are happening in all of our lives, without actually doing a talk show, [without] that specific format,” she noted. “Doing it on the Web first was the best decision for this show, because I really got to set a tone and paint a picture of exactly what I want to do. One of my best friends is director Justin Coit, who directed season 1 and 2 of the TV series, and another of my friends is producer Sophia Rossi, who was a consulting producer on the Web series. That made it very comfortable for me to just be 100 per cent myself.”
