Nikki Reed: I like beardless husband

Nikki Reed has joked she enjoys it when her husband shaves as it is like "kissing a little boy".

The newlywed actress was asked whether she prefers men with stubble or baby-smooth skin.

The 24-year-old Twilight star likes the clean shaven look best and encourages her 28-year-old husband Paul McDonald to clip his beard.

"I don't like a stubbly kiss, I don't think anyone does! It's pretty painful," Nikki told HuffPost Celebrity. "But Paul generally rocks a longer beard and that's not painful, so I'm fine with that. I do like when he shaves his face though. It makes him look like ten years younger… it's like kissing a little boy!"

Nikki married American Idol contestant Paul in October 2011. The musical twosome recorded an album called The Best Part together, which was released last year. Nikki gushed about married life and how much she has enjoyed the process of creating and promoting a record with her other half.

"When it comes to being newlyweds - I know it's been like a year, almost a year and a half, but we're still newlyweds - it's sweet because it creates a very romantic environment to go and do all this singing together," she said. "It's great. We are enjoying playing music together. It's kind of like we're on vacation because we get to go and sing, but it's really about the fact that we get to do it together. That we write together, that we record together that we take our album photographs together. It's a way of just bonding."

The end of the Twilight Saga franchise means Nikki has some extra time on her hands. Although she hopes to have a family with Paul one day, she isn't too concerned about starting their brood in the foreseeable future.

"We talk about having kids," Nikki explained. "I like that we talk about it a lot, so I feel like we're going to be really prepared... Well hopefully. I don't know if anyone is ever really prepared. It's one of those things that happens when it supposed to happen. So, I don't know if it's going to happen right now, but eventually."
