John Barrowman will not be appearing in Glee in the near future, he has said.
The TV entertainer, who has reprised his role as time-traveller Captain Jack Harkness in Torchwood: Miracle Day, set up a meeting with Glee bosses to discuss the possibility of a cameo, only to find out that his commitment to the BBC One series takes precedence over other TV roles.
"The answer is no. I went and met with the casting people - I instigated that meeting and told them that I love the show and I would be interested," he recalled.
"They said surprisingly they know who I am and they have been following my career. But I'm contracted to Torchwood and to Starz and the BBC, and I can't do any other dramas while I am doing Captain Jack. So it's a no."
John, who had a guest appearance on Desperate Housewives, had been rumoured to play one of Rachel's gay dads.
He is a proud Gleek, telling the Daily Mirror: "I absolutely love the show. What would I play in it? I'm not sure what kind of character I'd like to play, maybe I could be a teacher, you know, another teacher who comes in and helps out."
:: Torchwood: Miracle Day continues on BBC One on Thursdays.
