No Mr Selfridge return for Tapper

Zoe Tapper will not return for a second series of Mr Selfridge

Zoe Tapper has revealed she won't be returning for a second series of Mr Selfridge.

Zoe played showgirl turned actress Ellen Love, who had a fling with the department store mogul, played by Jeremy Piven, in the ITV period drama, which just aired its season finale at the weekend.

The actress tweeted after the last show of the series ended: "This is me bidding Ellen Love a fond farewell. It was a blast #MrSelfridge... No not back for series 2. Ellen was only ever a one series gal."

The actress previously revealed Ellen was only supposed to have a brief appearance in the series, having a fling with Harry Selfridge, but creator Andrew Davies chose to extend her part after she proved such a hit.

Ellen collapsed and attempted suicide after Harry dumped her halfway through the series, and that was originally to be her demise.

But she survived and went on to try and become a serious actress, with the help of Harry's friend Frank Edwards.

In the final episode of the first series, Ellen's debut play was attended by King Edward VII himself, and featured scenes that ridiculed Harry and his family. The jokes went down well with the audience, but not with the department store owner himself.

This isn't a good time to make travel plans. Weather conditions and work responsibilities have a way of wreaking havoc with your schedule. Wait another few days before putting down a hefty deposit. Working behind the scenes will yield significant rewards. If someone asks you to serve as their assistant, go ahead and accept. The pay will be excellent and there will be a lot of fringe benefits, too. Don't talk about a neighbour's private life in mixed company.More
