Norcross: I want to play myself

Kirk Norcross is hoping to start a film career

Former The Only Way Is Essex star Kirk Norcross has revealed he wants to appear in films - but he'd rather he didn't have to act.

Since leaving the reality show in March, Kirk has been trying to establish himself as an actor, with a little help from pal Danny Dyer, but has so far found his Hollywood career hindered because of his reality TV past.

The TOWIE star said: "I don't want to act. I want to half play myself. I got to audition for a film Danny's just finishing but I didn't get the part, and that was because they didn't want the TOWIE buzz around it - but I'm out of TOWIE now so I can be taken seriously."

Kirk, who became friends with Danny a year ago, revealed he might have his first starring role later this summer.

"They asked me to do a film, obviously I've still got to audition. It's starring Danny Dyer and will be filmed in Ibiza, so I could get a bit of a tan as well. It should be June time, so it could be this year I'm starring in a film."

As well as breaking onto the big screen, Kirk is also keen to break into the charts, perhaps surprisingly as a swing music singer.

"I love swing music, I've yet to start anything yet but I want to modernise swing music, try and get in the studio and make it a little more now."

Kirk admitted he's "always liked singing" but never had the confidence to perform in public, until he sang on the TOWIE live episode. "The feedback I had was so positive and I thought why not try to make a career of it?

"I don't think I deserve to be called a celebrity until I've done something a celebrity does," he said.

:: Kirk Norcross My Story is released on April 25 published by Sidgwick & Jackson, hardback, £12.99. Kirk will be on a nationwide book signing tour. For more information see www.kirkessexboy.co.uk.

Your Horoscopes by Russell Grant

Gemini:

A friend will tell you about a job opening at their company. This lead will turn into a dead end. Don't set your hopes on this possibility. Instead of looking for another job, concentrate on fulfilling your duties. Tempers are running high. The last thing you want is to catch the attention of an irritable superior. If someone does criticise your work, remain silent. These remarks may be terribly unfair, but defending yourself will only make the situation worse. Breathe deep. This, too, shall pass.More
