Odom ‘ditched by team’

Lamar Odom has reportedly been left a free agent in the NBA after the LA Clippers chose not to sign him.

The professional basketball player and husband of Khloé Kardashian is said to be suffering an addiction to substances including crack cocaine, leading to a breakdown of his personal and professional life.

The star is reported to be refusing help from his spouse as well as sports colleagues.

According to TMZ, the 33-year-old will remain a free agent this forthcoming season because his Los Angeles-based team has become aware of his alleged crack cocaine use.

NBA sources told the website that plans were initially in place to get a contract agreed due to the sportsman’s great performance last season.

However, Lamar was unable to be contacted when needed and the club has since agreed a deal with Former LA Laker forward Antawn Jamison.

According to Radar Online, Lamar rejected intervention attempts by players on both the Clippers and his old team the Lakers on Monday afternoon at a hotel room.

Insiders claim Lamar appeared to be under the influence of a substance when they confronted him for three hours.

“There was a bit of time it appeared that Lamar was going to admit publicly his addition and go to rehab, again,” the source told Radar.

“But then, he abruptly bolted from the hotel and left the premises.”

His agent, Jeff Schwartz, is believed to have worked hard to get him to return to the accommodation.

“One minute Lamar is agreeing that he needs help and 30 minutes later, he says he just needs to be left alone,” the source continued. “This is extremely serious, but there is really nothing anyone can do to save Lamar unless he wants to save himself.

“Lamar was sweaty and talking very fast. His hands were shaking and he couldn’t sit still. He kept pacing in the room.”

Other reports suggest Lamar is battling an addiction to prescription painkiller OxyContin and sleep aid Ambien.

The sports star is said to have checked into rehab in secret last year and he has also been accused of having two extramarital affairs.
