Odom ‘had Oxycontin prescription’

Lamar Odom has been accused of "skating through" the NBA drugs testing system as he always had a valid medication prescription.

The basketball star and husband of Khloé Kardashian has been embroiled in several scandals lately, including claims he is battling drug addiction. It has been alleged he is hooked on crack cocaine, with other reports suggesting he has a problem with prescription medication.

The speculation has caused widespread surprise as Lamar played with the Dallas Mavericks and LA Clippers during his supposed issues. now claims the 33-year-old sportsman did undergo mandatory NBA drug tests on several occasions, but could always back up his use of pain medication Ocycontin.

"Lamar never registered a dirty test over the last two years," a source told the website.

"Lamar was able to smoke OxyContin and it was detected during several drug tests. But because he had a valid prescription, it wasn’t a violation. It allowed him to skate through the system. He knew he could smoke it and get away with it."

Oxycontin is a synthetic form of morphine which is also known as hillbilly heroin and is highly addictive.

Lamar is also thought to have an issue with Ambien, which is a sleeping aid. However, the insider insists reports of his crack cocaine use are completely unfounded.

"If Lamar had been using crack cocaine, or any other illegal drug, it would have been detected during the league’s drug testing routine," the source claimed.

"If Lamar tested positive for a drug of abuse, he would have immediately been sanctioned and suspended."

It has been widely reported that Lamar completed three weeks in rehab last summer, before quitting the regime. Khloé and some family members are rumoured to have demanded he got help last week and when he refused she is said to have thrown him out of the house.

It has also been alleged that some of his former basketball colleagues from the Clippers and Mavericks tried to stage an intervention on Monday. Although Lamar was initially open to their arguments, it was claimed he seemed under the influence of something and eventually stormed out.

The basketball star is now said to have returned to the mansion he shares with his wife, where they are holed up having crisis talks. Rumours they have separated have not been confirmed, with TMZ stating Lamar is now "open to reason and listening to the people who love him the most" and "receptive" to suggestions that he needs help.
