O’Donnell ‘actively negotiating The View return’
Rosie O’Donnell is said to be discussing a firm return to American talk show The View.
The 52-year-old comedian served as a moderator on the popular American daytime talk show from 2006 to 2007.
And although she quit seven years ago, TMZ is reporting the star is in “active negotiations” for a return to the programme.
Apparently Rosie is finalising monetary terms right now with producers and talks are “far along”.
According to the outlet, the decision could be made public as early as Tuesday.
When Rosie was part of the show during its tenth season, her presence boosted ratings tremendously. She decided to leave The View because her contract expired and new terms weren’t agreed upon, but the star has been a guest correspondent since departing in 2007.
Actress and Playboy model Jenny McCarthy was announced as the latest co-host of journalist Barbara Walters’ award-winning US chat show in July of last year, but a few weeks ago it was revealed she will no longer be a part of the programme.
"The View will be moving in an exciting new direction next season and ABC has made decisions to evolve the show creatively," executives stated in a statement to Us Weekly magazine.
Jenny’s departure was rumoured for days, and came on the heels of co-host and comedienne Sherri Shepherd announcing she would also be leaving the show.
Us reports Whoopi remains the show’s only original co-host.
