Olivia Munn mistook engagement congrats for Oscar nomination
Actress Olivia Munn didn't know how far her engagement rumours got until distant relatives asked to attend the wedding.
Actress Olivia Munn thought she was nominated for an Oscar when she received congratulations on her fake engagement .
The 35-year-old star humoured fans earlier this week (end15Jan16) when she posted a screenshot of her mother Kim wishing her well, as she believed Olivia had accepted a proposal from boyfriend Aaron Rodgers. Luckily the actress took the confusion in her stride, joking to her mum that she shouldn't believe gossip on the internet.
It wasn't just her mum who the rumours reached, but the timing of people congratulating her came after the 2016 Oscar nominations were announced on Thursday (14Jan16), leaving Olivia baffled.
"I had no idea that it got as far as it went until I got random emails from aunts and uncles that I haven't spoken to in so long like, 'Can we come to the wedding,'" Olivia laughed on Live! with Kelly and Michael.
"(People) were texting me like, 'Congrats, is it true? Is it true?' I was like 'Did (her new movie) Ride Along (2) get nominated for an Oscar?'"
Olivia was on the show to promote the upcoming funny flick, which is a sequel to the original 2014 Ride Along and reunites stars Kevin Hart and Ice Cube. But the audience were more interested in the brunette beauty's private life as she triggered laughs by reading out messages between herself and her mother, complete with her mum's Asian accent.
There was a reason why Olivia shared the exchange on social media though, as she hopes this will confirm she isn't marrying Aaron just yet.
"Since I'm doing press for the next few days, I didn't want to have to answer the same question over and over," she captioned the shot in Instagram. "So instead, I'm going to let my text conversation with my Asian mom help me out."
