Olivier Martinez 'to avoid custody war'
Actor Olivier Martinez is apparently keen to avoid a custody battle with Halle Berry over their son Maceo.
French actor Olivier Martinez will reportedly not ignite a custody war with Halle Berry, in a bid to avoid the nastiness he witnessed between her and her ex Gabriel Aubry.
News of Olivier and Halle's divorce filing came to light on Tuesday (27Oct15), with the couple citing irreconcilable differences on the papers, according to TMZ. The news outlet now claims to have sources with further details on the split, specifically questions surrounding custody of Halle and Olivier's two-year-old son Maceo.
Insiders allege the French star was "horrified by the bitterness" between Halle and her ex Gabriel, who have daughter Nahla, seven, together. Olivier apparently thinks the soured relationship between her mother and father took its toll on Nahla, and he's determined the same won't happen this time around.
Olivier has had his own problems with Gabriel, and the two were embroiled in a scuffle in 2012 which left Gabriel with broken ribs and his face black and blue. The violent disagreement led to an emergency restraining order against Olivier, but police reports stated the Frenchman acted in self-defence.
In the wake of his split from 49-year-old Halle, after two years of marriage, it's claimed Olivier, also 49, has no plans to move to France and will remain in the US.
The initial divorce filing allegedly used pseudonyms Hal Maria and Oliver Martin, which led Halle to file for a second time, just days later, under her real name. Sources told TMZ she also used a fake name for Maceo, calling him Mac Martin in the original petition.
It's thought the couple had a pre-nuptial agreement in place, which protects both their assets. The Oscar-winning actress is thought to be worth $80 million.
Rumours of marriage trouble between the two started over the summer (15), with Halle spotted out on numerous occasions without her engagement ring.
