Boyband One Direction pulled in £85m last year to make them the second highest-paid on Forbes' annual celebrity rich list, beaten only by Taylor Swift.

The British and Irish singers earned $110m, while Swift's 1989 world tour helped her outdo her former boyfriend and One Direction member Harry Styles and top the list with earnings of $170m (£131m).

The band are on hiatus while they pursue solo careers, with Styles filming Christopher Nolan's new film Dunkirk and bandmates Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan and Liam Payne rumoured to be working together on new music.

British singer Adele took ninth spot with $80.5m (£62m).
