One Direction ‘rehearse to sound of screaming girls’

One Direction

One Direction are reportedly rehearsing for their Take Me Home world tour to the sound of screaming girls to prevent the singers from getting distracted by shrieks onstage.

The English-Irish boyband, comprised of Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson and Liam Payne, kicked off the world trek in London on February 23 but apparently their fans' shrieks have become distracting.

According to British newspaper The Mirror music bosses have ordered the singers to practise their set with a track of screaming female fans blaring in the background.

“It helps them manage their vocals. There’s little point rehearsing in an empty arena because it’s completely different when the venue is filled with people making noise,” a source told the publication.

“Adding screaming sounds is the only way to make the sound check realistic.”

Fans have previously made claims about hearing similar tracks at gigs. It's been alleged such tracks have been used to encourage their crowds to get even louder.

As The Mirror reports Louis revealed last year he suffered from partial deafness in his right ear. He suggested the condition was exacerbated by over-excited fanatics.

“It’s tinnitus - something like that. Our fans are always very loud,” he said.

A spokesperson for the band said even then the volume of fans’ screams was affecting the group’s performance ability and their team was taking every safety precaution possible.

“They are only young and still developing, so management insist they wear high-tech earpieces and filters,” the spokesperson said.

One Direction will compete a series of five shows at London’s O2 arena this week before continuing their tour in Europe.

The band will then head to the US, Canada and Mexico before hopping to Australia and New Zealand, followed by their final shows in Japan on November 2 and 3.

A spokesperson for One Direction has yet to comment on reports of the soundtrack.
