Oprah nearly ended LiLo deal
Oprah Winfrey would have cut off Lindsay Lohan’s reality series if she wasn’t going to be real.
The media mogul will broadcast an insight to the troubled actress’ life on her Oprah Winfrey Network.
However she considered chopping the episodes if Lindsay wasn’t going to do it her way.
“There was a lot of chaos going on,” Oprah told Access Hollywood. “So I went to have a conversation, a real conversation about that, to say to her, ‘Do you want to do it? Because if you don’t want to do it, that’s OK. We could just end it. We don’t have to do it.’
“She said she wants to do it. So let’s get to it. So I had that conversation.”
Oprah insisted that the Mean Girls star didn’t fake anything and Oprah was deadly serious with all of her employees about creating a true representation of Lindsay.
“I went to her house just to say, ‘What are you doing? Let’s get real here.’ And… ‘This is what’s conflicting about it.’ Because it’s television and we stand to gain if it does well,” she confessed.
“But the real truth is – and anybody who knows me, certainly my producers on the way there – Sheri Salata was in the car – I said, ‘If I get here and Lindsay isn’t serious, I will shut this thing down today.’”
Lindsay underwent a court-ordered rehab stint this summer for 90 days, after various run-ins with the law, but she wasn’t the only one to suffer a meltdown recently.
Oprah revealed that she herself showed symptoms of a nervous breakdown earlier this year when filming her movie The Butler among other things.
“That is true,” she admitted. “In the middle of my struggling network… I was sitting and listening to Jason Russell [of the Kony 2012 movement] describe his symptoms…. Saying, ‘Um, this sounds pretty familiar to me.’”
