Chord Overstreet said he was arrested for "shooting in Times Square" on Thursday.
The 25-year-old star was filming scenes in midtown Manhattan for hit TV musical Glee when he posted a Vine video on Twitter claiming he was being booked by the NYPD.
“Arrested in time square,” he tweeted with a link to the clip (sic).
“Well this is what you get for shooting in Times Square,” Chord says in the video. “I’m getting booked at a police station that’s what you get.”
Chord later tweeted that his statement would be “coming shortly”, with media outlets speculating the actor was just joking.
The star appeared to be in an otherwise jovial mood on set, and was pictured giving co-star Darren Criss a piggyback ride.
Lea Michele was also pictured arriving for scenes.
The Glee stars are getting ready for their 100th episode, set to air on March 18.
Creator Ryan Murphy announced the news in December, revealing former star Heather Morris had signed on to return to the programme and mark the milestone with her former castmates.
“Heather is IN for Glee 100th!” Ryan tweeted.
The cast and crew have meanwhile been tight-lipped about rumours of a Glee spin-off starring Lea’s character Rachel Berry.
“I’m not sure if there’s a spin-off, they’re keeping lots of secrets from us. You’ll have to call Ryan Murphy. You’re going to get me in trouble!” she told Extra! at the time.
“I’d be happy for there to be a spin-off, then another spin-off and then Rachel [Berry] in her senior citizen home singing for everyone. I love my job, I love Glee and I love my cast and I’d be happy to play Rachel Berry until I’m old with a cane,” she laughed.
