Pam's People: Group's new premises is all singing, all dancing

By Pamela Ballantine

Did you know that there is one school here that has been responsible for producing no fewer than 37 world champions over the last 14 years? That school is the Doherty Petri School of Irish Dance and along with Eire Designs they have launched a brand new state-of-the-art premises in Belfast's Boucher Way.

Dance enthusiasts from as far away as the USA were there for a glittering evening full of Irish music, dance and fashion.

You can't beat a roaring fire and a glass of mulled wine to warm you up on a cold winter's day and both were on offer at the annual PTA Ladies lunch in Malone Golf Club.

As well as enjoying the festive hospitality, the ladies were able to browse the stalls and catch up with friends.

I have been lucky enough to attend a few functions on board HMS Caroline which is known as 'The Jewel in the Crown' of Maritime Belfast.

The members of the society which supports the only surviving floating vessel from the 1916 Battle of Jutland hosted a dinner in the Ulster Reform Club to celebrate the centennial of the British WW1 light cruiser.
