Professional pastry chefs from famous hotels, a leading supermarket and the armed forces will compete to see who can rustle up the best desserts for a TV show.

Bake Off: Creme de la Creme, an eight-part series for BBC Two, will be presented by Michelin-starred chef Tom Kerridge.

Fifteen teams of professionals - with three chefs in each team - will battle it out in tests of skill, creativity and teamwork in a bid to produce the most impressive miniatures and s howpiece desserts.

Led by a team captain, the 45 chefs taking part come from all sorts of kitchens - from famous hotels, top restaurants and high-end patisseries, as well as from unexpected places such as the development kitchen of a leading supermarket, the armed forces, and the discreet and exclusive private dining rooms of the City of London.

To secure the Creme de la Creme title the chefs must impress three of the industry's most influential pastry chefs - Benoit Blin, chef patissier at Oxfordshire hotel Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons; Cherish Finden, executive pastry chef at The Langham in London, and Claire Clark who has twice been named Britain's best pastry chef.
