Pattinson co-star puzzled by popularity

Robert Pattinson

Robert Pattinson's latest co-star doesn't understand why people keep asking about the Twilight hunk.

Jay Baruchel appears alongside Robert in Cosmopolis, which follows a millionaire during 24 hours in Manhattan.

Although Jay enjoying teaming up with the British star, Robert wasn't the reason he decided to get involved with the movie.

"Everybody keeps asking me what Pattinson was like," he told E! Online.

"He's a lovely man, incredibly polite and very disarming, but I was just there because [director] David Cronenberg is my idol. I got to be directed by my hero and I would have just picked up his dry cleaning, so the fact that I'm in it - I don't even remember what I did. I was just kind of there watching the whole time."

Robert is best known for his portrayal of Edward Cullen in the Twilight series of vampire movies. It's a role which has won him female fans the world over, but none of Jay's woman friends were that interested in his co-star.

"I surround myself with girls who keep their stuff on the DL," he laughed. "So I think my sister kept it to herself."

Robert is busy at the moment, as he also has his movie Bel Ami to promote. He portrays a man who dupes older women in the picture and spent time in Berlin, Germany, while shooting.

The 25-year-old star's father Richard was keen to visit him in the European city, but had an unusual idea about how they should spend their time. Richard decided they should visit a notorious fetish night spot called KitKatClub together.

"I was telling my dad about it last night and he sounded really into it," he is quoted as saying.

"He told me, 'I'm coming over - let's go to the orgy club.'"

People who frequent the establishment aren't allowed to wear everyday clothes. Instead, many chose leather thongs and other racy outfits and outrageous behaviour is encouraged.

"Rob became a fan of the nightclub because he doesn't get hassled by admirers there," a source told British newspaper The Sun.

"The parties in there are crazy, though. It is dark and private so makes a great getaway for him.

"And it's perfect because on fetish nights - and especially at Halloween - there's always some people in there dressed up as vampires. The whole myth of biting and sucking blood is a big thing in the fetish world."
