Paula Abdul 'to be X Factor judge'

Singer Paula Abdul will be the fourth judge on X Factor USA, it has been reported.

This would reunite her with fellow judge Simon Cowell, her former sparring partner on the American Idol judging panel.

Abdul will be on hand for Sunday's taping of the first judging session in Los Angeles, according to a source close to the X Factor negotiations.

Previously announced judges include singer Cheryl Cole and Grammy-winning producer Antonio 'LA' Reid.

The X Factor USA is open to solo singers and vocal groups aged 12 and older. It will premiere on Fox this autumn.
