Katy Perry "couldn't help" her ex-boyfriend Johnny Lewis.
The American actor - who is famed for his roles in Sons of Anarchy and The O.C. - and an 81-year-old woman identified as Catherine Davis were found deceased by the Los Angeles Police Department.
Apparently police officials believe that the actor murdered Catherine, his elderly landlady, before he fell to his own death.
Katy dated Johnny for about a year until they parted ways in 2006 and is heartbroken over the tragedy.
"She had to separate from him to get ahead and focus on her career," a source told Us Weekly.
"He was in trouble then and she couldn't help him. A lot of her songs were partially inspired by him. They had good times. It's really sad. She could never help him and couldn't [let herself] go in that direction."
Authorities believe that Johnny may have been under the influence of Meth or PCP, as according to TMZ he exhibited "superhuman strength" in an altercation he got into immediately after allegedly slaying his landlord.
