Peter Sarsgaard spends most of his time surrounded by women.

Peter Sarsgaard loves his female-driven family.

The 44-year-old actor is father to daughters Ramona, nine, and three-year-old Gloria with wife Maggie Gyllenhaal.

But when it comes to who he chooses to spend time with, Peter insists there is no one he would rather be with than his three main girls.

“I wouldn't want it any other way,” Peter told The Hollywood Reporter of being surrounded by women. “I don't really hang out with guys.”

Many celebrity romances fall victim to Hollywood. However, after 13 years together and six years of marriage, Peter and Maggie appear happier than ever.

The actor also opened up about his relationship in the interview, admitting that sharing the same career makes life easier for them both.

Asked to name the best thing about being married to another actor, Peter replied: “Sympathy”.

But there are also downsides to being a Hollywood power couple – namely the busy days.

“Scheduling,” he said when asked about the worst aspect.

Maggie and Peter are both well respected actors in their own rights, but have always managed to steer clear of the celebrity side of their industry.

Peter added he and his wife both share the same thoughts about the world of Hollywood, and hate the “ranking system” of Tinseltown the most.

“It’s like high school,” he said. “You're like, 'F**k those guys! I don't care who's most popular!' But it gets talked about so constantly that part of you gets drawn into [it].”

The family keep their distance from Hollywood by spending the majority of their time in New York, where they live.

Living up to their trendy reputations, Peter, Maggie and their children’s house is in Brooklyn.

And when it comes to keeping fit in the Big Apple, Peter loves nothing more than pounding the pavements.

“The drum circle in Prospect Park,” he said when asked about the best part of living in Brooklyn. “I'm a runner. I'll hit the drum circle on my second lap around the park. And I'll just take a minute and shake my sweaty a*s all over the place.”
