Phillip Schofield to dust off his technicolor dream coat
Phillip Schofield will swap his This Morning suits for a technicolored dream coat later this year (16) as he reprises his role as Joseph in a touring production of the show.
Phillip Schofield is set to return to Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.
The 54-year-old star is famous for his work on the small screen as co-host of This Morning alongside Holly Willoughby, and his other shows The Cube and You're Back in the Room. But devoted fans will remember Phillip's critically-acclaimed performance as Joseph in the hit musical back in 1992, when he took over the role from Neighbours star Jason Donovan.
Now he is set to reprise the role to perform two songs in a touring production of the show called The Knights Of Music tour, which will celebrate the knights and dames of the entertainment world.
The prospect is somewhat daunting for Phillip though, as he hasn't sung in a fair few years.
"It seemed ok, it's not been used other than for a bit of karaoke," Phillip told the Press Association of his voice. "I have all my best ideas in the shower so I don't even sing then. I'm normally concentrating on other things because it's the only place there isn't a phone."
It's unclear whether Phillip will be wearing the famous colourful coat in the production, but one thing he's pleased with is that it still fits.
"It still does up round the middle, I would even go so far as to say it's even less snug but I am not even sure we will do a coat, I don't know where we are with that yet. It's more about the songs," he smiled.
Another of the most famous costumes from the show saw Phillip show off his physique in just a loincloth. But shedding his clothes isn't something the presenter is keen on doing.
"I have the loincloth as well but I'm not entirely sure that would fit, I think I had a 26 or 27 inch waist then and it's 30 now. It's been in the wardrobe, tucked right up at the end," he laughed.
"It's not one of those things I put on even on my own or a costume party. I would be scared it would get a cigarette burn or wine spilt on it."
The Knights Of Music will tour theatres in Cardiff, Ipswich, Northampton and Southampton between 21 and 24 April (16).
