Ryan Phillippe says being in the limelight can have a detrimental effect on his love-life.
The star, 36, has been linked to other women - most recently Amanda Seyfried - since his divorce from Reese Witherspoon, the mother of his two children, in 2008.
He said: "You tend to accelerate the whole process of the relationship because you're forced to have your dates at home.
"You don't want to deal with people - not only paparazzi but people in restaurants with their camera phones."
But the actor, whose latest film is the thriller The Lincoln Lawyer, still doesn't understand why people are interested in his sex life.
"It's very odd to me. I don't care who anybody else is sleeping with, I really don't," he said.
After claiming he'd never date someone with a publicist again, he's now rumoured to be seeing actress Amanda. "I fell off that wagon real quick," he admitted.
But the actor revealed that the online tittle-tattle has got his mother up in arms too.
"Some of these bloggers are vicious, and my mom gets so upset," he said. "I know that if she had the capacity to hunt these people down she'd end up locked up somewhere!"
:: The Lincoln Lawyer is released today (March 18).
