Pierce Brosnan backs Daniel Craig for another Bond outing

Barbara Broccoli has reportedly persuaded Daniel Craig to star in one more James Bond movie.

Pierce Brosnan doesn’t want Daniel Craig’s reign as James Bond to end just yet.

The hunky British star took over from Irish actor Pierce in the super spy role in 2006, four years after Pierce hung up his Bond shoes following his fourth and final Bond movie, Die Another Day.

And while 63-year-old Pierce concedes you can’t play 007 forever, he thinks Daniel has a few more films left in him.

“There is a definite point where you have to say enough’s enough, for sure,” he told the Associated Press. “I’m not going to put a number on it.

“(The next film is) his for the taking. Go for it man. He’s brilliant.”

Pierce’s praise comes hot on the heels of news that Daniel has reportedly signed on for his fifth Bond film.

Plans for another film with the 49-year-old at the helm were thrown into disarray in 2015 when the actor declared he’d “rather break this glass and slit my wrists,” than play the spy again.

Plenty of new names were thrown into the hat, including Idris Elba, Tom Hiddleston and Aidan Turner, but it seems as though franchise producer Barbara Broccoli, who recently directed Daniel in off-Broadway play Othello, has finally persuaded him to return for another outing.

“Daniel was very pleased with how Othello went and the great reviews,” a source told Page Six. “Now Daniel’s talks with Barbara are going in the right direction. They have a script — screenwriting duo Neal Purvis and Robert Wade (who’ve penned several Bond movies) are writing and they’ll go into production as soon as Daniel is ready to commit.”

The insider added Barbara is not keen on Thor actor Tom taking over the role.

“Daniel had such a good time in Othello, produced by Barbara that he’s ready to do a final Bond,” a second source confirmed.
