Pine pleads guilty to DUI
Chris Pine made a court appearance in New Zealand on a drink driving charge Monday morning.
The 33-year-old star was arrested on March 1 after attending a wrap party in the town of Methven for his forthcoming film Z for Zachariah.
According to the Associated Press, Chris stood silently while his lawyer entered his plea at the Ashburton District Court in Christchurch, New Zealand on Monday morning.
Chris reportedly had his New Zealand driver’s license suspended for six months during the hearing.
He was also issued a fine of $93 NZD ($79 USD).
The actor still appeared in good spirits as he left the courthouse, and was seen signing autographs for fans on the way back to his car.
Police previously told Fairfax Media Chris’ blood alcohol level registered at 0.11 percent, over the legal limit of 0.08.
He reportedly told authorities at the time of the stop he had consumed four vodka drinks.
The New Zealand Herald previously reported the manager of the Blue Pub Methven said the venue was hired to host the part for around 70 people who had been working on Z for Zachariah for a wrap party, and that Chris looked “fine” at the event.
“Chris Pine arrived here and had his supermodel girlfriend [Iris Bjork Johannesdottir] with him and he spent most of his time with her, she flew in that day someone told me,” Casey Crawford said.
“You can see the photos behind the bar with our staff and he looked fine, I only ever saw him drinking tap beer and his partner she was just drinking sav wine,” he said.
Z for Zachariah is directed by Craig Zobel and also stars Margot Robbie and Chiwetel Ejiofor.
The film, which tells the story of a teenage girl who survives a nuclear war in a US town, is scheduled for release next year.
