Pink was forced to cancel a gig in Birmingham, England after falling ill with a respiratory infection.

The singer, whose real name is Alecia Moore, is currently performing around the world on her The Truth About Love concert tour.

However, she is now taking a break after getting sick while travelling.

“With deepest regrets I had to cancel my first show of the tour tonight in Birmingham. I have an ear and respiratory infection,” she posted on Twitter.

The performer recognised the decision was of inconvenience for those planning to attend.

She expressed that it was not an easy choice to make, but felt it was best in her situation.

“I am not a person that takes cancelations lightly- and I apologise to anyone who was inconvenienced by my illness (sic),” she continued on the micro-blogging website.

After receiving well-wishes from her followers, the star went on to thank them for their continued support.

“Thanks to all my genuine people out there sending love,” Pink added on the website.

The Truth About Love Tour is comprised of 130 shows which take place over America, Europe and Australia until next year.

The music dates are in support of her sixth studio album by the same name.
