Pink: Miley can do better
Pink wants Miley Cyrus to show off her talent not her body.
The former Disney star stirred controversy with her raunchy performance at the MTV Video Music Awards followed by the release this month of her music video, Wrecking Ball, in which she appears nude.
And Pink, real name is Alecia Moore, is disappointed the 20-year-old is distracting from her talent with the way she looks and acts.
"Am I into it? No, I think it's tacky," Pink told E! News. "She's really freaking talented. She's beautiful. She can sing her a*s off and to go up there and do that? She's cheating herself and she's cheating the rest of us… She can do what she wants.
“People can like it if they want. I'm not going to buy it. She can do better. I've seen her do better,” she said.
Pink has been focussed on her movie career as of late. The singer plays a sex addict seeking rehabilitation in new forthcoming drama Thanks For Sharing, co-starring Josh Gad, Mark Ruffalo, Tim Robbins and Gwyneth Paltrow.
She hasn’t lost sight of her music career, however, and says she takes her craft “very, very seriously”.
“I always try to evolve and be better and I never just kind of phone it in, because I believe if people are going to get up and get out of bed and go to work and spend their hard-earned money on me to entertain their family, I'm going to do it well and I'm going to do it interestingly and with class and creativity," she shared. "I'm not saying I always get there, but that's where I try to get to."
The star compares appearing in movies to performing music and used her experience from playing shows to perfect her performance on the big screen.
"I tell stories," she explained. "That's what I do, but I write my own stories and I tell my own stories. This was just telling somebody else's, so you just have to figure out what parts you can relate to and go for it. It's not like I was playing an 85-year-old English woman."
Thanks For Sharing is scheduled for US release September 20.
