PM turns down Joey Essex interview

David Cameron has turned down an interview with reality TV star, Joey Essex.

Essex, who has interviewed the other main UK party leaders as part of an ITV documentary he is making on the election, said he had been told the Prime Minister would not be taking part.

"It's a shame really - I don't know if anyone knows but I'm not meeting David Cameron. I've met everyone else out of the MPs. I've only just found out today," he told BBC Radio 5 Live's Pienaar's Politics.

"I really did want to meet him but it's not happening. I'm a bit gutted but he's a busy man, just like every other MP. It would have been just nice because I've met everyone else."

The Only Way Is Essex star has already spoken to Ed Miliband, Nick Clegg and Nigel Farage for the programme which is due to be screened in the run up to polling day on May 7.
