Pregnant Kerry Washington taking social media break
The mum-to-be is planning to enjoy a little time away from Instagram and Twitter.
Actress Kerry Washington has embarked on a social media hiatus as she enjoys her second pregnancy.
The Django Unchained star showed off her growing baby bump on the red carpet at the Met Gala in New York City earlier this month (May16), confirming her happy news just hours after the reports first surfaced online.
The child will be a sibling for her two-year-old daughter Isabelle, and as she prepares for the new addition to her family, Kerry has decided to temporarily shut down her Instagram and Twitter activity.
"It's time for me to take a teeny break from social media," she announced in a post on Instagram on Tuesday (17May16). "Feeling called to be a bit more quiet and still. Not sure how long it'll last but don't worry, I'll be back soon enough."
Going on to praise her fans for their continued support, she added, "This space has become such a community. I'm very grateful. Thank you... I'll be thinking of youz (sic) and I'm sending love to you wherever you are..."
The news was accompanied by a video clip of someone, presumably Kerry, dipping their feet in the ocean as they walked along a beach, suggesting she will be spending some of her down time relaxing by the water.
Kerry's planned social media silence emerged as bosses at America's ABC network revealed they are delaying the return of her hit political drama Scandal, which typically has its season premiere in the autumn (16).
The move was most likely made to accommodate the 39-year-old actress' pregnancy, as the show would usually begin production over the summer (16).
Scandal, which wrapped season five in the U.S. last week (ends13May16), was renewed for a sixth cycle in March (16).
