Prince Charles ‘overjoyed’ about royal baby
Prince Charles says becoming a grandfather for the first time is “an incredibly special moment”.
The 64-year-old Prince of Wales is now a grandpa following the birth of his son Prince William’s baby boy on Monday. The Duke of Cambridge welcomed the child with his wife Catherine Middleton, who delivered the baby at St. Mary’s Hospital in London in the afternoon.
Prince Charles and his wife Camilla are over the moon about the new addition to their family.
"Both my wife and I are overjoyed at the arrival of my first grandchild," Charles said in a statement released by Clarence House.
"It is an incredibly special moment for William and Catherine and we are so thrilled for them on the birth of their baby boy."
It is rumoured that only Prince William was allowed in the delivery room while Catherine gave birth.
Apparently not even Catherine’s mother, sister or any member of the royal family was invited into the Lindo Wing while she was in labour.
Prince Charles confirms he has not yet seen the tot, but he is overflowing with love for the baby nonetheless.
"Grandparenthood is a unique moment in anyone's life, as countless kind people have told me in recent months, so I am enormously proud and happy to be a grandfather for the first time and we are eagerly looking forward to seeing the baby in the near future,” he declared.
