Prince George ‘needs personal gifts’
Britain’s Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge reportedly would like Prince George to be gifted with personal presents on his first birthday.
The little tot turns one on July 22, and will celebrate in style according to sources.
While he's expected to be showered with expensive gifts, royal biographer Marcia Moody says his proud mom and dad would appreciate presents that have a personal touch.
"I'm sure he'll receive some traditional luxury children's items - a rocking horse or a silver tooth fairy box. But William and Kate would favour personal items like a scrapbook of his first year, with hospital tags and a lock of hair," Marcia revealed to British magazine Now.
George has had a jam packed first year, and accompanied his parents on their three-week tour of Australia and New Zealand earlier this year.
Royal correspondent Victoria Murphy thinks that Catherine may suggest a few gifts inspired by the trip for George's special day.
"George has two nurseries - one at Kensington Palace and one in Anmer Hall in Norfolk - so he needs plenty of toys to fill them. In Australia, Kate mentioned he was obsessed with wombats after receiving a cuddly toy and how he liked to watch the boats," Victoria said.
"However, as they did for their wedding, Wills and Kate have encouraged people to give donations to charity instead."
Catherine's mother Carol is a keen baker and her brother James runs cake company Nice Cakes, so it's expected the pair will provide the birthday treats.
