Randy Jackson’s wife ‘files for divorce’
Former American Idol judge Randy Jackson will reportedly be ending his marriage of 18 years.
The 58-year-old music producer has been married to Erika Riker since 1995.
But according to TMZ their marriage of nearly two decades is over, as Eria has filed for divorce citing “irreconcilable differences”.
Randy and Erika are parents to an adult daughter and 17-year-old son Jordan.
Apparently the former American Idol judge’s estranged wife is asking for full physical and joint legal custody over Jordan. Erika is also allegedly seeking spousal support and wants Randy to pay her attorney fees.
This will be his second divorce as Randy previously dissolved his first union with Elizabeth Jackson in 1990. He and Elizabeth are parents to a daughter named Taylor.
The bassist appeared as a judge on TV talent show American Idol from the first season in 2002, before leaving the position last year.
And the musician has spoken in the past about why he decided to leave the programme.
“Yo! Yo! Yo!" he said in a statement released by his publicist. "To put all of the speculation to rest, after 12 years of judging on American Idol I have decided to leave after this season. I am very proud of how we forever changed television and the music industry.
“It's been a life changing opportunity but I am looking forward to focusing on my company Dream Merchant 21 and other business ventures."
Randy later noted he knew his time ran up at American Idol when his judging originality began to deplete.
"Twelve seasons in as a judge - I did everything I could say and do," Randy told British magazine Star.
"It was time to do something else. I'm excited to step into a mentor role, as I get to work more hands-on with the kids."
