Rapper Kanye West wants to create joy around the world - like Elf's Will Ferrell
Kanye West has declared he just wants to bring joy to the world - like Will Ferrell in Elf.
In the 2003 Christmas movie Ferrell played Buddy, a human raised as an elf, who is too oversized to help in Santa's workshop.
Rapper and Yeezy fashion line creator West told W magazine: "I'm the elf that's Will Ferrell, that's too big for his hands to make the toys.
"But he wants to make the toys. Why? Not just so he could play with them, but he wants to bring joy to the world. I am a creator and it's my responsibility."
He added: "I build things that mean things to people. I make the Christmas presents."
The 39-year-old has previously shared his admiration for the actor, who starred in Zoolander.
After seeing Zoolander 2 in February for a second time, he tweeted: "Will Ferrell has reached walking living breathing god status!"
West added: "His existence is a blessing... I just want to thank Will Ferrell for the years of joy he has brought into my life with amazing comedy."
In a wide-ranging interview, West, who is married to reality star Kim Kardashian, said people do not understand who he is.
Highlighting the honorary degree he received from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago last year, he said: "Very few people even knew that I have a f***ing PhD in art, and not that that even makes a difference, but me saying that makes a difference to the exact people I'm talking to.
"It's like - shut the f*** up, I will f***ing laser you with laser f***ing eyes and explode your f***ing head.
"Try to write a rap. Okay then.
"I made this f***ing T-shirt, now shut up."
