Rappers collapse stage

A group of rappers brought such large entourages with them they caused a stage collapse this week.

Several hip-hop stars joined forces to celebrate producer DJ Prostyle's birthday on Monday night, with a show at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City. Among them were Fabolous, Wale and French Montana.

The group were keen to put on a good performance, so they all invited friends to take to the stage with them.

However, there were eventually so many people queuing up to strut their stuff that a ramp collapsed - with one source having an unusual idea about what caused the problem.

The insider told New York Post the incident occurred when "12 dudes that weighed 300 pounds each and an extra 100 pounds for all of their bling jewellery" were on the ramp.

At one point there were as many as 400 people milling around in the backstage area. It's not known whether anyone was injured when the incident occurred.

"Those rappers need to be less co-dependent and only require ten friends on stage - not 200," the source said.

Further details of the incident aren't clear, although it's thought those present might need to pay for any repairs.

DJ Big Mike The Ruler took to Twitter after the show and implied there would be repercussions.

"The mini stage collapsed last nite at Hammerstein I know sumbodys neck hurts this morning. $$$$ (sic)," he wrote.
