Ray Winstone to toast royal couple
Ray Winstone has revealed he will raise a glass to Prince William and Kate Middleton on the day of the royal wedding, but he won't watch the ceremony.
The Sexy Beast star - who has three daughters with his wife Elaine, including the actresses Jaime and Lois Winstone - has admitted he isn't "great" with weddings, so plans to enjoy the day in his garden.
Ray said: "I'll be in the garden having a drink - I'm not great at weddings put it that way.
The actor added: "It's usually funerals that are the best ones, because you have a great wake don't you? And if the fight happens early, it's usually a good party at a wake. If it happens later, that's usually a dodgy one.
"But weddings are weddings ain't they - but good luck to them."
But Ray admitted he is a big supporter of the royal family.
He said: "Of course, I'm British.
"I think they had a slump a few years back, where it was all going a bit pear-shaped, but I think the industry and the identity of this country, it's what we're known for, in a way.
"People come here because of that, people come here and spend money because of that."
Ray stars as an Afrikaner veteran of the Boer War in his new action thriller Tracker, which he filmed on location in New Zealand and is released on the day of the royal wedding.
