My Week With Marilyn star Eddie Redmayne has revealed he has worked with "film divas" who have pulled strops similar to the ones Marilyn Monroe was famous for.
The 29-year-old British actor said: "People play power games as a way of retaining control.
"Turning up late to a film set is their way of saying, 'I know there are hundreds of people waiting, but I'm going to grip this situation myself'. While it's horrific to work around and frustrating, I wouldn't say it's alien."
In My Week With Marilyn Eddie plays Colin Clark who had an affair with Marilyn, played by Michelle Williams, when he worked as a runner on one of her films.
The scene where Colin took Marilyn to see his old school Eton was filmed on location and Eddie revealed a group of schoolboys played extras and got very excited.
He said: "They knew I'd been to school there, so they were all coming up to me and whispering, 'What's Michelle like?' And Michelle played with them so beautifully. There was this great moment when she just went up to one and kissed him, completely improvised, and he went beetroot."
:: My Week With Marilyn is released in cinemas on Friday November 25.
