Reese Witherspoon has joked she likes to make out with Jennifer Aniston at the weekends.

The Legally Blonde star - who played Jennifer's younger sister in Friends 11 years ago - paid tribute to the 42-year-old actress for her "sex appeal and complete lovability" at the Elle Annual Women in Hollywood event.

Reese said: "You just want to get your nails done with her and you want to make out with her at the same time. At least I do. And that's what we do sometimes on Saturdays."

All eyes were on Jennifer on the red carpet as she stepped out in daringly short silver dress with a plunging neckline, while Reese opted for a demure navy trouser suit.

Jen was honoured at the lavish ceremony at the Four Seasons Hotel, along with Barbra Streisand, Michelle Pfeiffer, Viola Davis, Evan Rachel Wood, Freida Pinto, Naomi Watts and Elizabeth Olsen.

Barbra was introduced as "a world icon" by Oscar-winning director Kathryn Bigelow.

Freida Pinto said on stage that "sharing the same oxygen" as Barbra was an incredible birthday gift. The Slumdog Millionaire star was celebrating turning 27. "You're a legend not only in Hollywood but literally all over the world," the Slumdog Millionaire beauty told Barbra. "I can say that because I come from India."

She said the 69-year-old performer's song Putting It Together is "like a reality check that every girl that wants to get into this big entertainment industry needs to listen to".

"That was a truly inspirational song, so thank you so much for that."

Barbra in return paid tribute to all her fellow honourees, saying: "They're all so charming, so well spoken, and so thin. I ate the chocolate cake."

You're moody and sensitive, especially when it comes to family matters. Although you should make a big change, emotional ties to home are holding you back. Stop making excuses for your failure to act. Just take a leap of faith. Your nearest and dearest will learn to live without your constant presence. Becoming more independent will actually strengthen your relationships, not weaken them. Start looking for your own place to live.More
