Reese Witherspoon showed her ambitious side when she was arrested, it has been claimed.

The actress has been embroiled in a scandal recently after she was arrested for arguing with a police officer last month. Her husband Jim Toth was taken into custody for driving under the influence in Atlanta, Georgia.

Reese apparently asked the arresting officer if he knew her name during the incident, with the star later apologising for having "one drink too many" and saying she was embarrassed about her remarks.

"Obviously, everyone who's close to her knows that she is a great mom first and foremost," an insider explained to Heat magazine. "But she hasn't got where she is without being ambitious and sometimes that side of her shows. She seems to consider herself Hollywood royalty and wants to be treated that way."

The 37-year-old star recently dyed her hair brown for a movie role and it's been suggested changing back to her iconic blonde locks could help her move on from the scandal.

The actress' management team have reportedly started coming up with strategies on how to deal with the fall out, especially as they know how out of character the incident was.

"Reese and her team have gone into major damage-control mode," the source added. "Her box-office draw is based on her 'girl next door' persona, which she's worked extremely hard at."
