Reese Witherspoon feels that it's important to pay attention to "what her partner enjoys."

The Hollywood actress is currently promoting her new movie This Means War. The action-packed rom-com follows the feud that ensues between two men after they discover they're dating the same woman.

Reese, who married talent agent Jim Toth last year, prefers to keep the peace in her relationships by being considerate of her partner's needs.

"I think it's really important to listen to what they like," Reese told Extra. "And so it's important to know your guy and what he enjoys."

Although Reese has always been open about her feelings, she never pursued her crushes too vigorously.

"If I liked the guy, I was pretty open about it," she explained. "I don't know if I was as aggressive as other people are, but I was very focused about it."

Reese is very much looking forward to celebrating her and Jim's first official Valentine's Day as a married couple.

"It's a fun holiday. I just went and bought all my chocolates today. It was fun," Reese gushed. "[Jim's gift is] a secret. I can't tell anybody."

Reese has two children Ava, 12, and Deacon, eight, with her ex-husband Ryan Phillippe. She also dated Jake Gyllenhaal for several years.

This Means War will be released in US theatres on February 17.
