Reeves heading to TV
Keanu Reeves will star in forthcoming US TV thriller Rain.
The Matrix actor will star in forthcoming hour-long US programme Rain, based on the best-selling eight-book thriller series by Barry Eisler, according to Deadline.
The outlet reports Keanu will produce the show alongside the author, as well as Chad Stahelski, David Leitch and executives from Slingshot Global Media. The company is also serving as distributor.
“We are extremely excited to be working on a beloved property with such a talented and hard-working actor as Keanu,” Slingshot founder David Ellender, who launched the firm in February, said Monday.
“This series will be the launch pad for the company and highlight our talent-focused, quality-based approach within the ever-changing and expanding television space.”
Rain follows the story of assassin and anti-hero John Rain, who will be played by Keanu.
The actor said he was eager to get started on the project and work once again with producers Chad and David, who directed him in forthcoming feature John Wick.
“As a huge fan of Barry’s work, I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to bring his iconic character and incredible world to life,” he told Deadline.
“I’m looking forward to partnering with Slingshot on my first series, and reteaming with Chad and David.”
The outlet reports a writer has not yet been attached to the project.
Keanu currently has projects on the books through next year.
The 49-year-old star made his directorial debut with 2013 action drama Man Of Tai Chi.
In addition to the upcoming release of John Wick, he can also be seen in Eli Roth’s forthcoming thriller Knock, Knock, scheduled for release next summer.
He is currently filming Courtney Hunt-directed thriller The Whole Truth, also set for a 2015 release, according to IMDb.
