Robert Downey Jr. serious about Stark

Robert Downey Jr. takes his Iron Man role as "seriously as Shakespeare".

The actor is reprising the superhero role for a third instalment of the Iron Man franchise. Robert loves playing the playboy engineer Tony Stark and his alter-ego, insisting he is committed to the movies.

"Well, I think I can speak for any of us who get to live in this world, there's something about it where you go, 'What a great opportunity!' It's an odd thing. I take it as seriously as Shakespeare," he replied when asked how it feels to play Iron Man at Comic-Con.

In the new film, Tony has moved in with Pepper Potts - played by Gwyneth Paltrow.

Robert has spoken about his character's love life heating up, revealing it leads to unusual situations for a superhero.

"Kevin [Feige, film producer] said there's never been a movie like this where the lead guy is in a relationship with the girl he's going home to, who's Gwyneth Paltrow, telling him what to do," he laughed.

Although womanising Tony appears to be settling down, Robert did point out that Don Cheadle's character James Rhodes is still on the dating scene.

"However, Rhodes is single! What are we gonna do about that?" Robert quipped.

"Is this a dating service?! Are you starting something?" Don replied.
