Julia Roberts suffered emotionally without her family’s presence while working on her new film.
The 46-year-old actress shares twins Hazel and Phinnaeus, nine, and six-year-old son Henry with her husband Daniel Moder.
And while Julia shot August: Osage County, she was struck by grief due to the absence of her brood.
“I found it deeply trying, being away from my family, but these are all things we have to learn,” she told UK newspaper The Daily Mail of the experience, noting her family normally spends time on set with her.
“It was such a fulfilling work experience, but I was heartsick.”
Julia reveals she is most concerned with finding fulfillment in her “real life”, which she defines as “what ten million gazillion other people do every day”.
The star doesn’t care what observers have to say about the way she lives, although she does confess criticism can be very hard to take sometimes.
“There’s too much scrutiny, too much interest in mis-step, and so much judgment and criticism,” Julia explained.
“And everybody has a computer to post a comment on a blog. Everybody is so mean!”
Julia drew headlines for walking barefoot onstage at the 2013 BAFTA Los Angeles Jaguar Britannia Awards in November.
But the gorgeous thespian says not wearing shoes makes her feel closer to nature.
“I like to feel tethered to the planet,” Julia said.
“I do feel at one with the idea of Mother Earthly things.”
It is rumoured she and husband Daniel are expecting their fourth child together.
Earlier this week TMZ published photos which appear to show the actress with a large baby bump.
