Rock: Gymnastics are my future
Chris Rock has spoken about his desire to scale back his career a few years from now in order to focus on his children.
The 49-year-old comedian is currently going through a divorce with his estranged wife of 18 years, Malaak Compton-Rock.
Chris shares daughters Lola and ten-year-old Zahra with Malaak, and he intends to cut back on his professional life to spend time with them.
“I’m not looking hard to work. My future plans? Gymnastics,” he told Page Six. “Taking my kids to basketball practice. I play a little but not as good as Lola, my 12-year-old.”
Top Five director Chris confirmed his split from Malaak last month, with reports claiming he filed for divorce due to being unhappy in the marriage.
Apparently he also claimed in court documents that he has been prevented from seeing his daughters regularly.
But sources recently insisted to TMZ it will be a “simple divorce”. Chris was reportedly unwilling to continue a union that wasn’t fulfilling, and is now asking for shared legal and physical custody of the kids.
Malaak has spoken out about the situation following a claim from Chris she can support herself, suggesting spousal support would be reduced.
"While recognising that this is a significant change, my children remain at the centre of my life and their well-being is my top priority. It is in this spirit that I sincerely ask that their privacy and the privacy of our family be respected during this transition in our lives," she said.
