Rooney Mara: I’m so shy

Rooney Mara

Rooney Mara is taken aback by people’s reaction to her bashfulness.

The 28-year-old Ain’t Them Bodies Saints actress believes many take her for being snotty due to her reserve, but she insists that she is actually a nice person.

“In high school, people thought I was stuck-up because I didn’t talk to anyone,” she told T, The New York Times Style Magazine.

“It was just because I was shy and scared, but I think because I’m super-self-possessed that it doesn’t come across as scared so much as stuck-up. I would hear what people thought and be like, ‘No! I’m actually nice!’ But now people can think whatever they want.”

Although Rooney has two motion pictures out this year, the star hasn’t filmed a movie since 2012.

“I haven’t worked since last Thanksgiving and I have no plans on working anytime soon,” she detailed.

“After a movie I always feel a little lost. While you’re doing it you feel like you’re having some sort of revelation, like it’s real, and then it’s over and you’re like, ‘That was not real.’”

Rooney is dying to reveal her secret talent to the world soon, which has very little to do with her gig as a thespian.

“I have hidden rhythm — like, I’m a crazy dancer when I’m alone — but I’m a little too shy to let it come out in public,” she gushed.

“But, let me tell you, it’s going to come out.”

Rooney released her new drama Ain’t Them Bodies Saints this month and her forthcoming picture Her will reach cinemas in early 2014.
