Rory McIlroy's ex Holly Sweeney marries ice hockey star Jeff Mason in Belfast
She was once the socialite at the centre of global attention as Rory McIlroy's childhood sweetheart - but now Holly Sweeney has tied the knot with another sports star.
Sports mad Holly used to love hitting the town with her girlfriends, but the former party girl from Co Down is now a proud mum and - since yesterday - wife of Belfast Giant Jeff Mason.
Glamorous Holly (25) looked stunning in a simple satin and lace ivory coloured spaghetti strap gown as she married the ice hockey player. The newlyweds then celebrated their nuptials on the steps of the luxury five-star Merchant Hotel in Belfast city centre.
Holly's trademark blonde hair was curled and swept back from her face in a vintage style complete with a veil, while Jeff wore a smart navy suit as the pair entwined hands.
Their toddler Max acted as pageboy during the wedding.
The world number four golfing star did not attend, as he was competing in the French Open, where he finished third.
Former Ulster Rugby cheerleader Holly has been chronicling her excitement about the big day on social media, posting photographs of her hen do, which is understood to have taken place at the Culloden Hotel.
She also revealed an adorable pageboy outfit for her son and a photograph of her manicured nails, showcasing her stunning solitaire diamond engagement ring to perfection.
The couple got engaged last Christmas at their Holywood home.
Jeff is originally from Massachusetts and began his hockey career in 2005 in the US before signing for the Giants in 2010.
He and Holly started dating in 2012.
The 33-year-old was named as the defenceman of the year at the 2015 ice hockey awards.
Holly and Rory met as young teenagers at Holywood Golf Club and dated on and off for six years.
She spoke of her heartbreak following the split in 2011, saying then that she was devastated, and travelled to Dubai to escape what was happening.
"It was Rory that ran away with Caroline (Wozniacki) - not the other way around - so I guess I blame Rory, or both of them if I'm totally honest," she said back then.
"Obviously we'd separated before, but that wasn't for any other reason than that we thought we were too young to be in such a serious relationship.
"This was a different thing altogether."
Holly - whose gaggle of girlfriends used to be known as the "wolf pack" - made headlines by having a 'golf pros and tennis hoes'-themed TV dinner party on Celebrity Come Dine With Me in the Republic. However, the pair are now on good terms with Rory giving Holly a pair of baby Nike boots for Max when he was born in 2014, before tweeting a photo of the tot wearing them.
Multi-millionaire Rory dated Danish tennis beauty Caroline for three years.
They became engaged on New Year's Eve in 2013. But Rory ended the relationship in 2014 and issued a frank public statement: "The problem is mine. The wedding invitations issued at the weekend made me realise that I wasn't ready for all that marriage entails."
Rory is now engaged to American beauty Erica Stoll. He proposed in December and the couple divide their time between properties in her home state of Florida and Co Down.
