Royal couple pregnancy claim

Prince William, Catherine Middleton

Britain's Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are set to announce Catherine's pregnancy, a pal has claimed.

According to the insider, Prince William, 30, and his wife, also 30, are preparing to share "happy, wonderful news" with the world next month.

Jessica Hay, a close friend of the duchess, has revealed the royal couple want to become parents at a young age and added she has noticed a telltale weight gain on slender Catherine.

"William and Kate are focused on starting a family. They've discussed it endlessly and don't want to be older parents," she claimed to New Idea magazine. "They're planning to make an announcement in December."

Hay, who went to school with the duchess and attended the royal wedding reception in April 2011, added that William and Catherine are hoping for two children.

She also alleged that they are hoping for a baby of each gender.

"It seems very traditional but of course they'll be happy with two boys or two girls, they don't want more," she said.

The royal couple have been beset by claims Catherine is pregnant since they married. Earlier this year, William added fuel to the rumours when he admitted he has thought about starting a family.

"I'm just very keen to have a family and both Catherine and I are looking forward to having a family in the future," he said.

In September, he was overheard saying he would love to have two youngsters.
