Royle Family Xmas episode revealed

Jim Royle (Ricky Tomlinson) will pin his hopes on a scratchcard in the Christmas special of The Royle Family

Ricky Tomlinson's alter-ego Jim Royle will pin his hopes on getting rich on a scratch card in the Royle Family Christmas special.

The BBC One comedy returns this Christmas for the first time in two years.

The new episode - penned by Caroline Aherne, Craig Cash and Phil Mealey - also sees Dave Best, played by Craig, come up with a pitch idea for TV show Dragons' Den.

Meanwhile, Barbara Royle (Sue Johnston) goes overboard with the presents, having spent a whole two hours in Poundland, and a new neighbour with an "impressive cleavage" may not be welcome on the Royle family's sofa.

Caroline, who stars as Dave's wife Denise, directed the episode, the first since 2010's Christmas Special Joe's Crackers.

Virgo:

It's difficult to deal with a highly competitive colleague. Every time you submit work, they try to find ways to outperform you. Although you have no interest in pitting your talent against theirs, this other person thinks very differently. Ignoring them won't be possible. A good way to disarm this pest is to invite them out for coffee. Describe what you've observed and ask for a truce. Irrational people are often thrown off balance when their behaviour is addressed in a direct manner.More
