Rupert Grint’s hairy friendship woes

Rupert Grint has quipped his nicknames at school were probably just a product of "bullying".

The Harry Potter star is known for his portrayal of Ron Weasley and for his iconic red hair. It's earned him some nicknames over the years, particularly from classmates.

"I don't have a regular [nickname], but I've had a few in the past," he opened up to Empire magazine. "They're all variations on 'Ginge', 'M***e' and 'Ginger Pubes'. That's a popular one. Maybe that was bullying. I embraced it. I went to an all-boys school and was the only ginger. It was hard making friends!"

The 25-year-old finds it difficult to take public transport because his ginger locks stand out like a "beacon". However, he'd only rate himself as a 6.5 on the fame scale.

Rupert's latest project is animated flick Postman Pat: The Movie, where he lends his voice to character Josh. The talented star is not just a dab hand at acting, though.

"I can play the didgeridoo fairly well," he exclaimed. "I've tried a variety of instruments in the past - accordion, sax, guitar, and never really clicked with any of them. But the didgeridoo, I can make a pretty decent noise.

"I acquired one quite early on, when I was quite young. It went from there really. It's quite a tricky technique; you have to do this circular breathing thing where you have a continuous breath."

The actor also revealed that rapper Dizzee Rascal is the most famous person in his phone and that his favourite word is 'phlegm'.
