Rupert Grint's preposterous prop
Rupert Grint chooses quirkier roles since leaving his Harry Potter days behind.
The new flick stars Shia LaBeouf, Evan Rachel Wood and James Buckley and tells the story of a young man who travels to Romania after his mother's ghost tells him to.
Rupert plays wannabe porn star Karl, who overdoses on Viagra at one point. To get the desired effect, Rupert turned to a sex toy.
"Well, [Karl] is going to audition for a film and overdoses on Viagra and then, of course, he panics because it becomes ridiculous and quite painful. I had this really embarrassing scene where I had to wear a device hidden in my trousers. It was a strap-on, basically, which was hanging up in my dressing room every morning," Rupert laughed to British newspaper Metro.
Rupert shot to fame playing red-headed wizard Ron Weasley in the Harry Potter movies, and he and fellow co-stars Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson recently all made the top ten of Heat magazine's annual list of richest entertainers under 30.
Unlike Daniel and Emma, Rupert picks quirky film roles that aren't such big box office draws.
"Yeah I think I am, yeah [attracted to unusual movies]. I'm not the most ambitious person. I'm quite lazy when it comes to doing things. I've found I can pick and choose things that intrigue me," he revealed.
He's also treading the boards on Broadway in It's Only a Play which has seen Rupert relocate to the Big Apple.
While he's thankful for his Potter past, the 26-year-old admits the role had its down side too.
"It had its ups and downs, obviously, a lot of sacrifices were made. I wouldn't say it was completely perfect but it was fun and I'll never regret it.
"I find them a bit weird [to watch]. Especially the early ones when I was so small. I can't remember ever being like that," he added with a smile.
