Russell Brand considers ideal dinner guests

Russell Brand

Russell Brand feels nervous at dinner parties and worries about topping up people's drinks.

The eccentric British comedian is currently promoting his Messiah Complex tour, in which he discusses a series of controversial issues and influential figures.

During an interview with BBC Radio 1, Russell revealed which people he would most like to sit down and have a meal with.

"The real answer would be friends because otherwise it would be awkward and I'd be nervous. [But I would pick Che Guevara, Malcolm X...]" he told radio host Nick Grimshaw.

"Gandhi, I'd have him round, although he might be difficult because he's very vegetarian and he goes on a lot of hunger strikes. He's like, 'Oh, I can't eat, the conditions aren't right.' And Hitler, just to ask, 'What were you thinking?' I get nervous at dinner parties; I never know which bit you're meant to go 'cheers' at and, 'Oh no, some people don't have liquid in their glasses!'"

Russell has a Twitter account, which he often uses to promote current issues he is interested in.

The star can't understand why some fans emulate their idols on the social networking site by making profiles with their hero's name and picture.

"What can they offer you? 'Cause you are you! That's one thing I don't need any more of," he deadpanned.

"I think when Harry [Styles] and Justin [Bieber] select wives, if they do look outside of each other, they will look for people that don't pretend to be them. But who knows?"

The 38-year-old is known for his love of yoga and it was even rumoured he practised the stretching exercise with Demi Moore.

Russell thinks an interest in yoga is something that comes with age.

"I do yoga every day. I can see how if you're a young person you don't need to tune in physically and can just have sex and drink all the time and then you realise that's not for you and then you need someone like me saying, 'Come on, we need to go to yoga!'" he laughed.

Sometimes this sensitivity can inhibit you from doing what you really want. You're afraid of offending people with your bold ideas. Instead of repressing your instincts, obey them. If you've developed a romantic interest in someone special, make your move. Playing the aggressor will boost your confidence. Keep your conversations light and playful.More
